4) Drill mounting brackets and screws into the wall or the cabinet ( if it is going to be hidden inside a cabinet)
5) Check if the vent matches the ductwork for vented range hoods. If not, do the necessary adjustments and screw the hood into the cabinet or the wall.
6) Outside the house, cut a hole 1-2 inches larger than the diameter of the duct. The cap needs to be attached to the duct to keep dirt and debris accumulated in the duct.
7) Run the duct back to the range hood, and if there are any uncovered connections, cover them with aluminum foil tape.
8) Make sure to fasten the cap outdoors and range hood indoors.
9) Turn the power on, just to make sure that everything functions smoothly.

For the filters, it is recommended to detach them from the hood and clean them separately for effective cleaning. The key issue about how to vent a range hood is that you vent the hood outside your home through the ceiling or wall. First, decide on the application area because this process includes cutting and drilling to vent the hood outdoors. Secondly, you need to build a road for the ductwork. Check the CFM of your range hood and make the hole in according to the suggested size for specified CFMs. For example, 400 CFM requires 4 inches, while 600 CFM demands 6 inches hole, which becomes 8 inches for 900 CFM.
While bearing this in mind, start building a road for the ductwork. It is recommended not to use more than 2-3 elbows to keep the air circulation better. Just think of the shortest way to orient your ductwork outside by using the fewest elbows. It will ensure the longevity and efficiency of the vent hood. Also, the ducts shouldn’t be longer than 30 inches for the air to circulate smoothly without encountering much resistance.
To get back to the cutting part, make the hole and cut it 1-2 inches larger than your ductwork to thread your ductwork to the outdoors much more easily. Drill a hole just to leave yourself a clue around which point the duct is centered.
The following steps continue outdoors. So go outside of your home and install a cap at the end of the duct. The cap provides a barrier blocking debris and dirt from getting trapped in the duct. The rest is connecting all the pieces.
