How do you install an outdoor backsplash?

The installation process of an outdoor backsplash is the same as the indoors. Of course, different materials might require different techniques. Whether it is a tile or natural stone, brick or metal sheet, first you need to clean the walls to create a smooth surface.

If you are working with tiles or brick veneers, first lay the tiles on the counter and define the layout. This way you can find where to start tiling. And you will see if there is any that needs to be cut from the tiles. For ceramic, porcelain, or glass tiles you can use a simple tile cutter but for natural stones, you need to use a wet saw. After this preparation, mix the adhesive, apply it in small sections with a trowel. Then start laying the tiles. Do these steps after covering all areas. Don’t forget to place a spacer to secure tiles. Let the tiles dry overnight. Then, apply the grout with a grout float by 45 angle motions. Clean the tile surfaces with a sponge and let the grout dry.

If you are using solid stone slabs or metal sheets, the installation is easier. You just need to apply the adhesive back to the slab or sheet and stick it on the wall. If you are using natural stones or natural brick, you need to also seal them.
